Idah Peterside wants Enyeama dropped

Former Nigeria International, Idah Peterside wants Vincent Enyeama dropped as Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper. Enyeama has endured an unhappy start to the season as he has yet to play competitively for the La Championnat side, Lille OSC Metropole. Mickael Landreau has consistently kept the Nigeria number one out all season with strong performances in La Championnat and the UEFA Champions’ League.

Idaa who played in goal for Nigeria between 1997 and 1998 believes Super Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia would be making a smart decision if he drops Enyeama as the team’s first choice keeper. “Before Lille bought Enyeama, they knew his capabilities but if the other keeper is doing well, what can you do? “However the truth is that, if he (Enyeama) is not playing, it will affect his position in the national team. “And the truth is, if you are not playing in your club, you don’t play for the country,”

Idaa went on to voice his sentiments on who he would select to start in goal for the Super Eagles if he were to be given the opportunity. “Aiyenugba is the one that plays regularly, so, common sense suggests that he should be the one to start matches for now. “Reputations should not count as you are as good as your last performance in the game of football,” Idaa explained.

“People talk about the fact that Siasia may lack diplomatic skills but I don’t see it that way. “I recall that when we have foreign Coaches, players normally displayed a high level of discipline. “If you came to camp late, you are punished but the situation is different when an indigenous coach is in charge. “That is wrong and I support Siasia for showing that he is a coach who shows a high level of discipline. If one bad egg is in the team, you deal with that bad egg,” Idaa said.
